Austin, Texas · Additive manufacturing studio

Precision-made
in Austin.

We take a part from brief to finished object — CAD design, material selection, production, and finishing, all in-house. You bring the problem; we engineer the part and choose a material that will survive where it's going.

The studio

Made here, not sourced.

Every part is designed, printed, and finished in one studio in Austin. Nothing is drop-shipped and nothing is outsourced.

A worn black lateral support bracket, repaired in several places, beside its new white printed replacement and a pair of digital calipers. A dimensioned engineering drawing of the lateral support bracket, with a 1:1 detail of its mounting hole.
Replacement part Lateral support bracket. The worn original, measured and redrawn as a dimensioned part, then remade.

Custom work

Designed in-house.
Engineered for utility.

If you need a part that does not exist yet, this is the work we do. Describe the problem — you do not need a drawing, a file, or the right vocabulary. We handle the design and we make the part.

What we take on

  • Brackets and mounts — holding something in a specific place, at a specific angle.
  • Enclosures and housings — for electronics, instruments, or equipment that needs protecting.
  • Jigs and fixtures — shop tooling, alignment guides, drilling templates, assembly aids.
  • Replacement parts — for equipment where the original is discontinued or was never sold separately.
  • Short production runs — from one part to a few hundred.
  • Adapters — making two things fit that were never designed to.

What we don't

Being straight about this saves us both time, and there is usually a better option than us.

  • Anything where failure could injure someone — parts that carry a person's weight, anything critical to a vehicle's operation, and medical applications. These need certified engineering, not a print studio.
  • Copies of branded or patented parts. If it has someone else's logo on it, we can't reproduce it.
  • Parts larger than roughly 340 × 320 × 340 mm. Bigger than that and you want a large-format bureau — happy to point you at one.
  • Runs above a few hundred units. At that volume injection moulding will beat us on price and we will tell you so.

Material

Tell us what the part has to survive — heat, sun, impact, oil, or constant flexing — and we'll choose the material and explain why. You don't need to know the difference between filaments. That's our job.

Most everyday parts are made in PETG-CF, a carbon-fibre reinforced PETG: stiffer than standard filament, stable in a hot Texas garage, and it takes threaded metal inserts so parts can be bolted together and taken apart again. When the job needs more — a vehicle interior, direct sun, real impact, chemicals — we move up to engineering polymers on enclosed, hardened-nozzle machines.

MaterialWhen we reach for it
PETG-CFThe everyday default. Heat and load indoors or in a garage — anywhere PLA gives up. Takes threaded inserts well.
ABS / ASAOutdoors in direct sun, and inside vehicles. Holds colour and surface where PETG fades.
PC — polycarbonateImpact. Parts that have to survive a real drop or strike, not just hold a static load.
PA-CF / PA-GF — fibre-filled nylonSolvents, oils, and fuels. Also the pick when a part has to mate precisely and hold that fit over time.
PPA-CF / PPA-GFSustained heat beyond what PETG-CF or ASA will take.
PPSThe top of the range — highest heat resistance and chemical resistance we run. For parts that live somewhere genuinely hostile.
TPUGenuine flex. Rubber-like parts, gaskets, and dampers — not a rigid material that tolerates bending.

The high-temperature and fibre-filled materials need an enclosed chamber and a hardened nozzle, which is why most print services won't quote them. Ours will.

How it works

Brief

You describe the problem. A photo of the thing it has to fit helps more than a drawing.

Quote

A scoped price and a date, in writing. Not a sales call.

Design

CAD, with two revision rounds included. You approve before anything prints.

Make

Printed, finished, and hardware installed in the studio.

Ship

Shipped from Austin at cost. We follow up once it's in service.

What it costs, and how long it takes

Design is charged separately from production. The figures below are the design fee — what it takes to get to a finished, proven file. Production is quoted on material, machine time, and quantity once we know what we're making.

Design tierFromTypical timeWhat it covers
Modify an existing design$20About 1 weekDimensional changes or adaptation of a part we already make, or a file you supply.
New simple part$601–2 weeksSingle body. No moving parts or threaded interfaces.
New mechanical part$1502–4 weeksHardware interfaces, threaded inserts, assemblies, or geometry under load.
Print only — you supply the fileNo design fee3–7 daysPriced on material, machine time, and finishing.

Times are typical, not promises — this is a one-person studio, and short runs add time. Your quote confirms an actual date and holds for 30 days. Custom work is non-returnable once you've approved the design, so approval is the point at which we both commit.

Got it — thank you.

Your project details are with us. You'll hear back within 48 hours, or within 24 if you flagged a deadline under two weeks. The first reply will be a scoped quote or a specific question about the part.

Nothing else needed from you in the meantime.

The 4MA system is a modular organizing platform for cycling kit that we designed, engineered, and manufacture ourselves — threaded hardware interfaces, mounts that hold under load, and tolerances held across a catalogue of parts that all have to fit each other. It is the clearest thing we can show you, because we did every part of it: design, CAD, production, finishing, packaging, and standing behind it afterwards.

Compact All-in-One Stand

Holds a helmet, shoes, and sunglasses. Stays where you put it. No wall required, nothing to drill, nothing to mount — it stands on the floor and it stays standing.
